Our Family's Favorite Waffles (Camille)

Hey Guys!! I made these super duper easy waffles today, and I thought I'd share the recipe with you!! Normally Abby would be posting after I posted, but she has been sick....so I thought if I was making breakfast I might as well post the recipe for you guys!! These waffles are really yummy too. :)

Okay, so these are not completely homemade. If you are like I am, and you don't want to spead hours in the kitchen baking, but you want your waffles to taste super awesome, then this is the recipe for you!!

Okay, Here's what you'll need!! :)

4 cups Bisquick Mix (If I am going to use a mix, I prefer this one over all the others out there, it tastes the closest to being homemade).

2 and a half cups whole milk (I know, not real healthy, but it gives the waffles the best flavor....you can also use 2% or skim....it just won't taste as yummy!)

4 tablespoons butter (melted)

2 eggs

*********************************************

Alrighty, the first thing you need to do is preheat your waffle iron. We have a Winnie the Pooh waffle iron that we love to death, but you can use any iron. :)

Now you'll want to melt the butter. If you don't know how to measure butter, look on the stick and you'll see that it marks the tablespoons. All you have to do is cut it to where it says 4 tablespoons, put it in a bowl, and stick it in the microwave for a minute and a half.

While the butter is in the microwave, measure all the rest of the ingredients into a pretty big bowl. Then throw in the butter (not literally....lol!! :) hahaha!!)

Mix the batter JUST UNTIL IT IS COMBINED!! The secret to good waffles is to not over mix. :)

Okay, now all you have to do is spoon the batter onto your waffle iron.

As you can see, the batter is somewhat lumpy. :) I know that all waffle irons are different, so just cook your waffles until the alarm goes off, or in our case the light goes off. I wish our waffle iron had a alarm, because we have to stay right next to the waffles in order to know when they are done.....but it's ok!!!

They're done!! Yay!!

Keep cooking those waffles until you are out of batter. :)

Here's what they looked like when they were done (but we had a lot more!! hahaha!! I love this recipe because it makes enough so that everybody in our family can have 2 waffles).

Serve with jelly, honey, syrup, or butter (we were out of syrup as you can see!! :D)

My family loves these waffles, and yours will too!! :)

Update (Abby)

Hey everyone, I know we haven't been posting recipes lately. That's my fault (Abby). I was supposed to put up the next recipe, but then I got sick with the flu, and wasn't able to make anything. (I know, lame excuse :P)  I am feeling better though, so I can make a post of a recipe soon. For all of those who know me in person - do you have any certain recipe you want to see? Knowing me, I'll probably post a cookie recipe, but if you have any recipe you know that I have that you would like, just post a comment below or e-mail us. (:

Sorry, I know that's a cop-out. I haven't really been that interested in baking anything lately, since I haven't been feeling good, but as soon as I figure out something to bake, I'll post it. (: Tomorrow is a bit of a busy day, but I may be able to squeeze in some time for baking. We'll see. ^.^

Ok, sorry I haven't been able to make a post.... I was supposed to make this post a few days back and I was uh, kinda slacking on that. So, poor Camille has basically had to run this blog by herself. Sorry Camille! Lol, she's so polite and nice about it though. :D Hopefully I can get on my feet and actually do something for this blog. ^.^

Yummiest Blueberry Muffin Recipe (Camille)

Hey Guys!! :) This morning my very lucky family got to dig into these amazing blueberry muffins!! They were a hit as as always!! These muffins just don't taste like any blueberry muffins, they are very buttery and you can taste the blueberries very well, without them being too sweet. I hate eating the store bought blueberry muffins because they are just too rich for me without being buttery enough. :) This recipe is a little weird I must say (the first time I made this I was freaked out because the batter was so thick, and I thought I did something wrong) but in the end they turn out perfectly!! :)

Okay, here are the ingredients:

     Muffin Mixture:
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening (we use butter instead)
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 c. fresh or frozen blueberries (ours are always frozen)

Crumb Topping:
1/3 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. flour

Okay, start by preheating your oven to 400 degrees. :) After that you will want to grease your muffin pan (or line it with paper liners if you have them). We always just take a stick of butter and rub it in each muffin cup and we never have a problem with our muffins sticking (it also adds more flavor to the muffins).

Now you need to cream (cream is just a fancy word for mix) the butter and sugar from the muffin mixture. You should definitely use some sort of mixer (a hand mixer or manual mixer) to do this. You just can't get it mixed enough by hand. :) I have both kinds of mixers, but I prefer my manual mixer over anything... :) LOL!! When I was creaming the sugar and butter I cut the butter into little blobs instead of just throwing the whole stick in, because when you do that it mixes easier. :)

I started the speed very low and then increased it to about 5 (or medium) then I let it mix for about 2 minutes but it could vary.....just until it looks like this.

It should look kinda crumbly like that. :) After you are done creaming the butter and sugar the next part is easier.....just add one egg and mix again. I let my mixer mix for maybe a minute on low. :)

Now the next part is a little more complicated. :) You are going to want to put half the flour (1 cup) then mix it for about 1 minute, then you should put half the milk and let it mix, after that put the rest of the flour (the other 1 cup) then let that mix in, and then add the rest of the milk and let that mix in. Basically you are just alternating the two ingredients. Don't just add the 2 cups of flour then the half cup of milk because this will mess up the recipe. :) After you are done with that, add the baking powder and salt.

Your mixture should be pretty thick and kinda gooey like this.

I know, it's thick. Trust me the muffins turn out amazing because of the thickness. :) Now you need to add the blueberries of course!! :) Gently fold them into the mixture.

Okay, now you need to make the crumb topping. This is like the easiest topping in the entire world. Add the flour and sugar together first and mix them up. Then take the butter and cut it into tiny little blobs and throw it into the mixture. You may have to cut the butter with a knife a little after you put it into the mixture, but remember that it is supposed to be lumpy.....this is what gives the muffins their amazing buttery flavor. :)

Now transfer the muffin mixture to the greased muffin tins. Put about one tablespoon of crumb topping over the batter. :) It should look something like this.

I know, it looks kinda weird......don't worry!! They turn out amazing after they are done cooking!! :)

Cook for 20-25 minutes. :)

Here's what they should look like when they are done.

Carefully transfer them to a plate and enjoy with butter (hahaha!! More butter!! :D). :)

I had mine today with eggs (Yes, I put tons of salt and pepper on my eggs...it's one of my many quirks.) These muffins are soooooooo good!! If you make these for your family they will love you forever!! :D

Hope you enjoy!! Stay tuned!! :)

Our First Post - About Us

Hi all (: (This is Abby, btw)  So if you follow my blog(s), then you know I already have 3. Yep, 3. Why in the world do I need another blog?? I have no idea. BUT I had the idea lurking around in my brain for a few weeks. I have always wanted to start a blog with someone else. I immediately thought of Camille, so I asked her. A bit out of the blue, I might add. I was chatting to her, and all of a sudden I just blurted out "Hey, Camille, wanna start a cooking blog?" And she was like "Uhhh.... yea!"

So we did.

As Camille stated in her bio, Camille and I have actually never met in person. We met off of another friends blog. Both of us new her, but we didn't know each other yet. We used to live in the same place, and then we both moved on the opposite side of the country. I really wish I got to meet her before we moved, but anyways. This blog is mainly about cooking. (Ok, it's all about cooking.) I imagine that if your here right now, then your, uh, fond of cooking too. Camille and I really enjoy cooking/baking! (Duuh...... just stating the obvious here.)

We will be sharing our best recipes here, along with techniques and maybe some posts about what we think of different products.

Keep in mind that this blog is not to boast about or show off our cooking skills. We are simply here because
#1: we uh, like to cook.
#2: we want to share our recipes with you in hopes you will try them out and enjoy!

We are always open to suggestions and ways you think would help improve our blog. Any recipes you might want to share, send them to our e-mail address and we will consider posting them. (: You can also share anything in the comments.

While we're on the subject of comments - don't be afraid to! (I mean, come on, it's not like if you post a comment it's going to bite you or anything....) We love getting comments, because it's a way of seeing that we really are appreciated for all that hard work. (: I once almost dropped my camera in a hot oven trying to take a picture of the food halfway done. You had to see my face when the camera (it was a nice one, btw. Haha) slipped out of my hands, and also my face of relief once I realized I had the strap around my wrist.

This blog is not a place for rude or mean behavior. Bad words, discouragement, or any of the like is not exceptable. As cliche as it might sound, we still don't take it lightly. This is a Christian website and rudeness is not aloud. We hope you will be able to follow the rules and also enjoy our blog! It is important for us to keep this, and all our other, blogs family friendly and we will not have any unacceptable behavior on our blog.

Ok, now let's take a look at some of the *awesome* people who run this blog!  (haha)

About Camille:

Hi!! My name is Camille, I have 6 brothers and sisters, and I am homeschooled. I LOVE serving God through music, and I play the flute, harp, and piano. I enjoy reading, babysitting, and sewing (when I can find time!!). I also enjoy cooking very much!! :) I love making desserts and breakfasts the best, but I also like to make dinners as well. My favorite dinner dish is Poppy seed Chicken (we will be sharing that recipe with you soon!) My favorite dessert is Pumpkin Stuff (you're like "What?? I've never heard of that before,"......most people haven't...LOL. (Yes, we'll be posting this too.) And my favorite side dish is Sweet Potato Casserole. LOVE IT TO DEATH!! LOL!! I am in love with Paula Dean's cooking...she is my cooking hero, so be prepared to see her version of a lot of the recipes that I post. Most of the stuff I post will be homemade, but I know that finding the time to make things yourself is not easy...my family struggles with that too!! So every recipe I post may not be homemade...but seriously, there IS a big difference. If you have ever tasted a homemade cake and tried one made from the box afterward, you understand what I mean. ;)

I am so excited about doing this blog with Abby!! Abby and I have never actually met in person, but we know each other through email and chat correspondence. We basically know each other through one of my greatest friends who I am friends with and she is also friends with. We met through her blog and started emailing each other (and commenting on each others blogs. ;D). Anyway, you're probably like "If you don't know each other then how did you make this blog together?" Well, we did it through email and chatting. I'm sure it would have been easier if we could have just been together in real life (LOL) but we live on two completely different parts of the Country. lol!! :)

Anyway, I was supposed to keep this brief and I have failed. ;) I just wanted you to get to know me a little better. Please feel free to check out my style blog (my button is on the sidebar) and my main blog. My main blog is private because I had some yahoos on it, and I wasn't comfortable with that. :) If you would like to see my main blog (most likely you are not a yahoo....when I say that word, I mean it in relation to creepy people who had no business lurking on my blog), then drop me a comment on my style blog in the most recent post and I'll let ya'll view it. :)  It has more personal info and pictures of me and my family on it...I also post the most on that blog.

Anyway, please stay tuned to How Do We Boil Water? to see some awesome recipes and cooking tips from Abby and I!! :)

About Abby:

I love to cook. (Great opening sentence, huh? Real thought out.) I love to do lot's of things Like... *takes deep breath* write, read, run, skateboard, camp, water ski, tube, snow ski, go sledding, go on hikes, blog, paint my nails, make jewelry, make cards, crochet, knit, listen to music, babysit, craft, and more. (Haha, yea, I like to do even more than that.)

I'm 13 years young (lol I just used my dads trick... not sure that it works for me..) and I have 2 younger sisters and an older brother. (Not nearly as many as Camille.) I also have a dog, who acts like a person, but that doesn't count as a sibling, right??

Hmm.... I was re-reading Camille's bio and she has like all this cool stuff about all she likes to bake and all of that, and I'm just like.... "I like to cook." Haha... well, I'm kinda known around here for making cookies, particularly chocolate chip cookies, but any kind mostly. I also love to bake any sweets. And yes, I do love to eat them more. I'm a pig. Haha. Just kidding. Well, sorta. (Woah! I just wrote like 4 fragments! My grammar teacher would not be happy. lol) You will mostly see desserts from me, but I also like to cook dinners, and that sorta thing. (: Sorry I'm not going in to full detail like Camille did.. I'm sorta just dragging this along.

I'm homeschooled and I'm a Follower of Christ (in other words, I'm a Christian) (: I'm not exactly sure if I felt like God was asking me to start a cooking blog, but I know if He needs something to happen through this, then He will.
I am so happy that we now have this blog! Camille and I have been wanting to do this for a while and we were just too busy until now to open it up.

Wow, reading my bio over, I literally talked about nothing. Oh well. If you read our blog, you'll probably find out more about me. Speaking of that, I have 3 other blogs, which are linked at the top right of our blog. Check them out if you want. (: (please)

So that's a little about us (this is Camille by the way). We are both looking forward to posting our first recipe, which will be happening very soon.
